Imagination

I had to create a set of 3 posters which would provide advice for a life lesson.

I chose to focus on the idea of the wisdom that you should remember what made you happy as a child and bring it back into your dull life. Being an adult can be dull, don’t grow up too fast and remember your childhood. Enrich your life by bringing your childhood back. Don’t forget your childlike creativity. Don’t lose your childhood imagination

I started with the first image of a child to represent the childhood creativity and imagination you have at a young age. I wanted to have her facing back so its more ambiguous as to who it is, where it could be any young girl. This can therefore resonate with more people as it is not a specific person but of an overall persona.

I used A3 watercolour paper and knew I wanted to use watercolour paint because I was inspired by the beautiful artwork that could be created by paint splatters and abstract colours. I also bought a set of waterproof pens to go with it so that the pens would not smudge and you would still get the outline of ink to enhance the drawing.

I wanted the girl in the same position for the second poster to show it is the same person.

To make it more similar to the first image, i also added more animals. The birds transforms into pigeons and technology replaces nature.

For the 3rd image I had her in the same perspective but I wanted her to come back round to her childhood again. I did this by placing certain objects in the same place as the 1st poster.

When you are a child, you view the world in a crazy and colourful way, full of creativity and imagination. As you get older you are told to grow up too soon and you lose that childhood innocence and outlook on life. My advice would be to stay in touch with your inner child and see the world in colour. Being an adult can be dull and full of responsibilities, but always remember what made you happy as a child and enrich your life with it. Don’t lose your childhood creativity.

Tropicana vs. Naked Juice

I believe I am going to change one of the brands involved in my brand collaboration task where I had wondered what Naked Juice was getting out the collaboration. I then decided to go onto mysupermarket.com and browse some of the brands of juice which were available and didn’t already have a line of smoothies. I first looked at Robinsons and their website, however, I decided their target audience was too centred around younger children and the existing audience of Original Source may not be as suited to Robinsons.

I then found Tropicana Juice’s which would make a much better collaboration since there is the appropriate emphasis on natural ingredients, which in this case is 100% fruit. The collab would then be more mutually beneficial where a Tropicana smoothie range could help to target peoples fruit consumptions so they reach their 5-a-day. Original source would also benefit in bringing awareness to their shower gel flavours where if people were to try the smoothies, they may want the shower gel too and vice versa.

Tropicana’s website also demonstrates the emphasis on the healthy nature of the juice which is similar to Original source in their use of all natural ingredients.

Edit:

It’s crazy how many times I seem to change my mind. It’s definitely a weakness of mine. I just go back and forth in my decision making which isn’t quite indecisiveness, but is me making a decision, then constantly changing it. Well, (for now) I think I am in fact sticking with Naked Juice as it just suited the shower gel product a lot better than tropicana. Naked had the whole nature, fruit and packaging going for them and was just all too appealing. And so, this whole tropicana idea is simply a brief interlude to the real brand collab between the two chosen ones.

Smoothie Shampoos

After a few hours on the Superdrug website, clicking next page after page, I wrote down some of the more interesting fruit ingredients used in some of the toiletry scents. This includes bath washes, shampoos, conditioners, hand washes, and shower gels.

Here are some of the fruit scents I found that could easily be translated in to a fruit smoothie-

pear and green tea

cinnamon, cloves and apple shampoo

blue fig and orange blossom shampoo

vanilla and papaya shampoo

avacado, condensed milk, and almond milk

raspberry and pomegranate

coconut and lychee

strawberry and almond milk

lime and coconut

passionfruit and cajá

vanilla and coconut

strawberry and kiwi & honey/apple

sour apple shampoo and mandarin

Cucumber, green apple, and melon shampoo

kiwi mango with pineapple and add a few leaves of mint

Green tea and apple

mint & green tea

Acai berry and avocado

While scrounging around on the Superdrug/Boots websites I was also in search of a new brand that would go better together with innocent smoothies as herbal essences didn’t quite have the range of fruit scents that I was looking for in order to inspire more smoothie flavours. After no real exciting results, I then researched in to possible smoothie brands that would be better than innocent where I could imagine them collaborating with a toiletry brand. I then came across Naked Juice and noted that aside for another possible smoothie brand if innocent smoothies didn’t quite go so well. On to the Superdrug website again and I find a great combination of Original Source with Naked Juice- Bingo!

This decision was made based on the design of the two websites and what they each believed in. Both websites were quite similar, as well as the theme of their products and attitude.

Looking at the individual products of each brand was also inspiring-

Overall, I think that Original Source and Naked Juice is a much better combination over Innocent and Herbal Essences which were the early stages of a brand collaboration idea.

Brand Collab ideas

As part of the Digital Advertising and Design BA course I am doing, I was tasked with creating an idea for a brand collaboration between two brands which can include both a company or a celebrity icon.

I knew that I wanted to do something with food since that is what a lot of people enjoy- including myself! So my first initial thoughts after reading the brief was perhaps some sort of individual cooking group such as SORTED Food from YouTube teaming up with a supermarket such as Sainsbury’s or Waitrose.

I then found some images and brands which had collaborated

Finally- Shampoo smoothies I think is a great idea! It sounds absolutely delicious and I would definitely be excited for a collaboration like this to occur in reality.
